Traction Alopecia

  • Caused by tight braids, weaves, ponytails, or wigs pulling on hairline.

  • Leads to receding hairline and broken edges.

  • Good news: Reversible if caught early and traction is stopped.

Seb1

Seborrheic Dermatitis

  • Very common in tropical climates.

  • Overproduction of sebum + yeast leads to flakes, itching, sometimes oozing.

  • May worsen with heat, stress, or heavy hair products.

ccca

CCCA (Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia)

  • Most common type of scarring alopecia in women of African descent.

  • Starts at the crown and spreads outward.

  • Linked to genetics, tight hairstyles, chemical relaxers, and inflammation.

  • Key sign: Thinning or shiny scalp at the crown with tenderness or itching.

FPHL

Androgenetic Alopecia (Female or Male Pattern Hair Loss)

  • Genetic thinning still affects people of African descent, though often masked by hair density.

  • Men: receding hairline, thinning crown.

  • Women: gradual thinning on crown and midline part.

Testimonial

“I was in great despair because of my hair. The hair length on the back of my head was about 118th of an inch, and I was balding on the top and sides! No wonder this brought me to tears! However, my dear husband happened to meet Dr. Oates’ husband, who on hearing what was happening to me, suggested that I call her right away. I did. And what great results I have had since then!

Dr. Oates began on a regiment of treating, not only my hair, but also helping me to cope with the situation by her kind and reassuring manner! This, I have never before experienced from another hair care giver. So, now, Dr. Oates has brought my hair to a wonderful condition. I have so much volume of hair now, and I marvel to see how hair has been restored to balding spots on my head!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Dr. Oates for your diligence, expertise, and kind manner! I would recommend her to everyone who is having problems with thinning hair, alopecia, or any other hair problem!”
